I attended the birthday party of our Senior Operations Manager last night. They served shrimps, beef, lechon and chicken gordon bleu. The chicken was amazing because it was juicy and the chicken flavor was not over powered by the other ingredients however, the beef wasn’t that impressive. Although you can taste the cream in the sauce, the beef was a bit tough. It could have been attributed by the way that the meat was cut. Such a waste. Anyhow the lechon was yummy, the meat was tender and fine, I guess it’s because the pig isn’t that big yet. The shrimp was so, so. It was suateed with carrots and red bell peppers. Nothing really special, it tasted like shrimps in suateed vegetables.
Most of my colleagues didn’t go there. I guess it’s because it was a Sunday. You know how it is, Sundays are family day so I guess most of them were tired to go out. I guess that’s the reason it wasn’t that fun. Our Operations Manager and some of my fellow team managers nagged me again about getting a boyfriend. They said that my Christmas wouldn’t be lonely this year. Hahaha, come to think it, it wouldn’t be too lonely if I get to go home. Hmmm, so boss, how about that? Send me home for Christmas. Hahaha… Our SOM sang with his wife, I guess it was their song, a lovely couple :). I wonder if I get a husband who could sing. Hehehe… Anyway, Kriste gave us a ride home. It was a miracle. Hahaha… It has been a while since we asked him to give us a ride home which was always futile. I don’t know what happened last night but he agreed right away. At least we got to save taxi fare.
It’s one of those days again when you feel like not going out. Am having a Lovers in Paris marathon today so I feel like I don’t want to go out of the house. Bad thing though it’s a Sunday so I need to go to church and do some stuff in the office. I need to pass by the supermarket as well to pick up some groceries. Sheesh, I just wish there is a grocery delivery service here in Cebu. You know for those who doesn’t want to go out just to buy a bar of soap or the ingredients for a recipe that you’ve always wanted to cook. Hmmm… I haven’t really heard of one here in Cebu so I guess I really have to go out and pick the things that I need. But just think if there is such a company here in Cebu who would provide the service. Imagine, you don’t have to go to one shop to the next just to find the ingredients that you need. I mean what if you are planning to cook something traditional or something that you’ve seen on TV, wouldn’t life be easier? Imagine having everything delivered to your doorsteps on days like this?
It was his birthday last month and he bought himself a new car. He said it is a dream to own a Lamborghini Gallardo and he did make it come true for himself. I just wish I will be as hard working as him for I do have a lot of dreams myself. Dreams like owning a house, having a business of my own and of course travel to places where I want to. Speaking of traveling, I do wish that I can go to Hongkong on Febraury 14th 2010, for this is not just an ordinary Valentine’s Day it’s the Chinese New Year (one of my favorite holidays) as well. Hay… I am getting a pay above the standard wage but why is it that I don’t have enough to have a savings? :( I hope that the day when I can save is near so that I can make my dreams come true too… Soon.
It was a dream come true! We were there when Microsoft lauched Windows Vista and Office 2007, the Lauch of the Decade, however, we only got lanyards as freebies from MS. Well, we were not expecting any really for as what the management had always said, we should be happy that we have the business. When Eric said they will coordinate with our company to have Windows 7 installed in our work computers, we were estatic! Imagine, we get to experience the newest software that MS has created without any cost and see for ourselves if what the beta testers are saying is true. But to our surprise, Eric sent boxes of Windows 7 promotional kits with a Windows 7 Ultimate discs. Everyone was so excited last Wednesday, it’s as if our 13th month pay came early this year. People who usually go on VGH, actually stayed to complete their shifts. Talk about morale boost! Too bad though, my transition waves did not get a copy for they were not included in the head count when Eric sent the items out. Sigh . But good thing, they understood why they won’t get the discs.
I first heard this song in Criminal Minds. It was one of the sadest episode of the series and this song summed up the emotion of Prentiss in the Demonology episode of Criminal Minds. This song was written and sang by Hodges. This is one of the good songs that I’ve heard but I don’t recommend listening to it when you’re depressed though…
Just like any trip that I will go to, food will always be a vital part of my trip. One of the reasons why I go to different places is to try out their specialties. Bacolod is known for its Inasal (in English, grilled food) so I tried to have grilled food in every meal that I have in Bacolod (but I didn’t have that much grilled food so there is nothing to worry about taking too much cancer causing agents during that trip). So day 1, I had grilled spare ribs of Chicken House which is one of the best tasting spare ribs that I’ve ever had, which I mentioned in Bacolod Day 1 on October 16th. In the evening we went to a Pala-pala, it’s like a small wet market with a lot of small restaurants that you can go to and have the food that you bought cooked the way that you want it cooked. Day 2, we had breakfast at the Sunset Beach Resort, ate fresh Lumpia at Bongbongs, a delicacy store in Bacolod and had a take out at a local chinese restaurant for Dinner. Day 3, we had breakfast at one of the stalls in Mambukal, I had Chicken Inasal (which was a bit weird for I can taste the ginger but it wasn’t that bad for the chicken was juicy and was cooked just right) and had chicken inasal again from a stall named Carmel’s in Gaisano Mall in San Carlos City.
In all that we had in Bacolod, I’d say yes to the Chicken House’s Spare Ribs, the fresh chinese lumpia in Bongbong’s, the Grilled Pork in Mambukal and the food that was cooked in Tulahan ni Leah (the dinner that we had in the Pala-pala). For the rest, let’s just say it was all charged to experience.
fish tinola (tulahan ni Leah)
grilled bangus (tinulahan ni leah)
sauteed shrimps (tulahan ni Leah)
the aftermath hehehe
grilled chicken in mambukal
grilled pork belly in mambukal
breakfast at Sunset Beach Resort (clockwise: Crispy Pata, Chop Suey, Shanghai Rice and Bihon Guisado)
Business cards if I may say is one of the important factors for a business to succeed. This small piece of paper could say a lot of things about your business. Through business cards, clients could tell what kind of team or person that they’re dealing with. It can show how committed you are in your business too. Sad thing though, business cards is one of the things that most businessmen take for granted. With what is happening in the economy nowadays, businesses would either settle for low quality business cards to save costs or worse, they wouldn’t have any business cards and would rely on their current clients to tell other people about their business. Although people would normally rely on the recommendation of the people that they know when it comes to choosing certain products or services, it’s always good to have business cards available for it will be easier for new clients to contact you. Getting business cards is pretty easy nowadays with all the printing shops that are sprouting here and there, so there isn’t really an excuse for us to not have a business card. However, if you feel like they are not good enough, then try ordering business cards online. You can either choose among the available designs or make your own designs for less. With a few clicks here and there, you will have high quality business cards delivered to your doorsteps within 24 hours.
At around 5PM, October 16, 2009, we checked-in in a resort in Silay, Negros Occidental. We couldn’t find any available accomodation that is within our budget in Bacolod City so we were forced to check out the resorts in Silay which is a town 30 minutes away from Bacolod. Sunset Beach Resort is a nice choice if you are a group travelling in a tight budget. You can get a room for Php 1,250, for four people, with 4 single beds. However, don’t expect too much on the facilities and commodities that goes along with the accomodation though. The water in the shower room tasted and smelled like rust, the towels are not as white and as new as the towels in five star hotels or the hotels in big cities. So if I were to rate the resort, I’d give it half a star if I will compare it with the other resorts that I’ve gone to like the Alegre Beach Resort. But I’d give it 3 stars, if it will be based on the budget. I mean, where else can you get an airconditioned room with 4 beds, a cabled TV and a swimming pool for PHP1,250 per night?
Searching for information can be pretty easy nowadays with all the technology that we have. But don’t you just wish that we have a search engine where we can just put a scanned picture and that search engine will find the name of the person that we are searching for or the place that we want to go to? Hmmm, wouldn’t that make stalking a lot easier? But kidding aside, have you tried searching for PDF files on the web? Don’t you just wish for a PDF search engine that will only index books, textbooks, documents, manuals and guides in PDF formats? I mean not everyone can have word processing software like word right? What if you only have Adobe reader in your PC? Wouldn’t this kind of engine be more helpful to you?
I have this site that I go to every now and then for I can relate to some of the entries that this guy puts up in his site. I like his posts for he would normally put a qoute in the end which makes me stop and think for a while. These past few days have been challenging for me for first, a friend had betrayed me (or so I and some of friends thought) and secondly I felt that I am not effective and effecient enough at work and so I felt like quitting (not to mention my bad ass colds that did nothing but try to make me stay in bed). So today, I went to dropped by his site and saw this qoute:
“The better a man is, the more mistakes he will make, for the more new things he will try. I would never promote to a top-level job a man who was not making mistakes…otherwise he is sure to be mediocre.” - Peter Druker
I realized when I read this qoute that I shouldn’t be too worried about making mistakes after all, in life or in my career, for what I should worry about is what should I be learning from the experience for me to prevent the same mistake to happen in the future. For mistakes are there to teach us about the consequences of the actions that we make not to remind us how ineffecient we are as a person. It is there to help mold us and in time make us the best person that we can be.
