Three of my colleagues and I went out to have breakfast yesterday and we were talking about the interviews that happened last week. We were looking for a number of people to fill slots for some openings in the program and building rapport was one of the requirements. I remember one of the questions that one of the interviewers asked me. She asked me what if I’ll become the supervisor of a tenured team whose members have applied for the position but didn’t make it and one of these members will come up to me and asks me why should he/she follow my lead when they’ve been around longer than I did and they know more than what I know? How will I handle this person? This, my friend is a question that will check on how a person can build rapport with other people. It was like what Ryan Seacrest of American Idol did when he asked David Archuleta to go to the group whom he thinks is the group who are safe. This was the episode when Christy Lee Cook was sent home.
I don’t know if it was scripted but I must admit I was surprised at what Daivd did. He sat down in the middle of the stage. Some people might think that he was playing safe but that is the most ethical thing to do. Other people might have walked over to the group whom they think is the group who made it. See this is a situation in which you can really know if a person does know how to build and maintain rapport with the other people. If you will be in the same situation and you are caught in the middle of the people that you love, it is best to remain in the middle and not to take sides. Let them take care of the problem. Don’t meddle with things. That way you will not hurt anybody’s feeling.
Why oh why do we have to worry about organizing things? Why can’t we do things when we want to do it? Why can’t we just go anywhere we want to go? Why do we need to schedule our activities? Why can’t people meet up whenever they want to? Why can’t they meet up where ever they want to? Arghhhhh… I’m getting tired of this! How I wish things will go back the way it used to. Back when things are simple. Back when people will plant vegetables in their back yard and hunt for food. Back when people can afford to sit around and read books or go on trips to the hills to have a picnic.
How I wish I can have that kind of life even just for a little while, a life that will be so different from the life that I am living now where everything has to go with the schedule, a life that has too many things to do but so little time. My life is a life that you can’t just drop things to do what you wanted to do in a spur of a moment because you have such a limited time. Wahhhh… Why can’t I be like other people who don’t worry about anything? Why oh why did I choose a life and a job that demands a lot and requires a lot of organizing, a life with a lot of deadlines. Why?!
One thing that I realized when I went to Carcar this weekend is that if you decide to go to a place to see the view and you don’t know anybody in that place is to find a guide or research about the place. So that it will be a bit organized and you’ll know where to go next.
Although I enjoyed the trip to Carcar, I felt that I still need to go back there for there were still things and places that I was not able to see. It still is an unfinished business for me for as you can see I have pictures here but, I have questions that I didn’t get the answers. Like the church, when was it built? And why are there tombstones there? Does it mean there were people buried there? Same with the Saint Catherine’s College. Was it really built as a school? Or did somebody live there? What was is it before? A house? A school?
I really love to travel and see places. Especially places like Argao and Carcar for seeing these places is like traveling back in time. Here you can see the influences of the people who came to live in the Philippines. You can see it in the churches, the old houses, the food that people prepare and even the dialect that they speak. But next time, I will look for a guide or at least do a research about the place that I will visit so that I will know which place to visit and I wouldn’t leave the place with questions in my mind.

Finally set up!!! So happy …. can’t wait to get started
Happy reading everyone!!
I only have a few passion in life. I love to cook and eat. And like most girls in the world, I am also into clothes and shoes. But I’m not the type who would dress up a lot. Cause I don’t believe in putting too much attention on how I look. I’d rather spend my time in the kitchen and cook, watch television or sleep during my spare time. But when I go out and buy clothes or shoes, I’d make sure that it would look good on me. So I don’t care if it’s in style or not as long as it looks good on me, it’s versatile and it’s within my budget then I’ll buy it.
So I’m amazed at how people react when I dress up. Like when I wear loud colored clothes and shoes or if I wear a skirt or a pair of skinny jeans. They would ask me if I have a date after the shift or if I’m trying to get the attention of somebody. Like duh! Can’t I indulge myself once in a while and express my true self? Can’t I wear my clothes when I feel like wearing them? But wait a minute. If people notice me when I put on something different, does that mean I dress up too plainly? Or is it because I’ve been putting on the same look all the time that they get amazed when I change something even just the way I tie my hair? Or, oh my God! Does that mean I’m disgracing my family? I hope not cause we are in the fashion industry. I can’t have the fashion police going after me. What will my dad’s clients say? Or does this simply mean that I have to start giving away my clothes and get new ones? Hmmm…
1:50PM June 12,2008. Just finished downloading my pictures from my cellular phone. Finally! It’s been a month since I’ve been trying to download them to my computer. I was thinking that I needed to get a Bluetooth software for my Sony K700i phone installed on this Asus A8LE laptop of mine which is running on Windows Vista Ultimate. It turned out, I just need to press the Bluetooth button and Vista will automatically find the software for the Bluetooth on the laptop and install it so that I’d be able to use it. Whew… Thank God I had the courage to press it. I’m so HAPPPPYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gina’s mom is a loving mom. She loves to strike a conversation with her kids. When Gina comes home from work she would usually ask her if she had eaten. Or would ask her about how was work and how’s her family doing. However, when her mom was about to turn 60 years old, her mom started to ask a question again after fifteen minutes she have asked it. Thinking that this was just because of old age, a conversation would usually end up in a quarrel because her mom would ask the same question over and over again. Then it became worse. Her mom would usually leave the house driving a car and will arrive home in a taxi. When they ask her where the car is, her normal reply would be, what car? Good thing they’ll find it in the parking lot where she left it. Then Gina had another argument with her mom because she was asked the same question a dozen times. It was the worst argument that they ever had. But after that conversation Gina never had any conversation with her mom for her mom can no longer recognize her or any person in the household. It turned out, her mom has alzheimer. And asking questions over and over again was already the indicator that her sickness was progressing. Now, Gina can no longer strike up a conversation with her mom. Because everytime that she wants to talk to her, her mom will just look at her blankly. There will be times that she will remember Gina’s kids or her husband but never her own daughter. Never Gina. Until the day that her mom died, her mom never remembered her.
So when was the last time that you talked to the people that you love? When was the last time that you apologized to the people whom you have had arguments with? When was the last time that you answered patiently when your mom asked you the same question over and over again?
What a disappointment! I was really expecting that Hilary will be the representative for the democratic party. I know that she will be a good president for the American people but I guess America is not ready for a female president. If she was not that good then the people of the State of New York will not choose her as their representative right? I guess some people are a bit hesitant to have a woman as a president because of the trend that the world is seeing when it is a female president who is running a country. But Hilary would have erased all that. Such a waste!
Is your electric and water bills too high? And because your bills are high, you’re working all day and all night to make ends meet? Then here’s my advise. Conserve, conserve and conserve. It is a well known fact that the price of oil has been going up since who knows when. And since our goverments are not really into the idea of finding alternatives for oil, then let us do something for ourselves. Let us start conserving electricity and water. If we are not in the room or if you can manage to go about without the lights on then don’t turn the lights on. I guess one way of saving up is installing glass windows and glass doors in our houses. Kenneth and Mock, a german company specialising in this field would be a good choice. Although it might be a bit expensive but if you’ll come to think of it, you’ll be saving a lot more in the long run. Another is if we’re washing our clothes, let’s wash it bulk. Don’t be like my landlord who washes clothes every single day. And then when their electric and water bill comes in, they would complain that their bills are too high. Like duh? Why wouldn’t it go high? They’re using a washing machine everytime they wash their clothes. Could you just imagine how mouch electricity and water it consumes? If we are buying a washing machine or any electrical machines, we should make sure that it meets the standards and go for something that will not consume electricity that much. It will tell you how much eletricity it will consume. And for our water bill, recycling water will be a good way to lower it. Like for instance, for storing our plates and utensils, buy a covered container and place them in it so that you wouldn’t have to wash them before you use them. Then we can have a big container where we can place the water that we used for rinsing the plates and use it to flash our toilets and water the plants. Even the water that we used in washing our clothes can be re-used for this purpose. We can even use it to wash our cars.
