Misconceptions

   Posted by: michy   in General

I didn’t know how misunderstood I was until recently.  Over the couple of weeks I had the opportunity to talk to certain people and you can’t imagine how shock I was when they told me about how they see me.  I remember Oprah once said that the smarter a woman gets the harder she’ll get a partner for men tends to shy away from smart women (based on some survey that they looked into).  And so there were times that I would ask myself if things would have been different if I act differently (like acting as a dumb giggly girl).  Which reminds me of the friend of Azula (the sister of Zuko in Avatar) that she needs to act like dumb and giggle to whatever a guy says even if it’s not funny so that she can get a boyfriend.  Imagine how dumb struck I was when one of my agents told me that he didn’t like me as a manager because the first time he saw me he thought that I am not intelligent.  What the heck?!  Although he did say that his impression of me was wrong, I am still confused.  I always thought of myself as an intelligent and smart person (based on what my teachers, friends and relatives say) but here is a person who told me otherwise.  Now I am thinking.  Is the reason of me not having a boyfriend due to my being smart (as to what my friends say) or is it because I look dumb?  Then another agent told me that she felt like I am the reincarnation of her highschool homeroom advisor whe she first met me.  Imagine that?!  Whoah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So where did the term Nouveau Riche come from?

   Posted by: michy   in General

From what I gather, nouveau riche is french for new money.  Meaning these are people who acquired considerable wealth during their generation.  This means that they made money through their own sweat.  Although the term nouveau riche was used as a derogatory remark back in the days to distinguish those who were born into a rich family but it all changed in the 21st century.  In the past, nouveau riche were discriminated upon by the old money (people whose family has been wealthy for generations).  They said this is because of how they acted in the society.  They are accused of being uncultured for lavish spenditures and they do not act as refined as those who were born rich.  But I agree to what other people say.  They were just stereotyped maybe it’s because of envy.  You know the feeling of somebody acheiving more than what you have achieved.  For me it’s like that.  A lot of people may it be in the old days or the present wants to be rich.  And so when they see somebody succeeding they just can’t help but feel envious.  However, nowadays, the term nouveau riche has a more positive tone to it.    Because today, people don’t just look into how rich a person is.  They also look at your achievements and what you have done for the society that you belong to.  I guess this is because people have started to understand that these people are successful in whatever goal they have set for themselves.  They have persevered to reach the stature where they are right now.

Great Expectations

   Posted by: michy   in General

Don’t you ever wonder how the expectations of other people come about?  I don’t know about you but from what I have observed so far is that those people whom other people expects a lot from are those people who have been achievers ever since they were kids.  You know those kids who started to learn things on their own at such a young age.  Became honor students in school and was able to get into the best college in the country.  And then, those kids who grew up depending on the people around them is not epxected to do things that independent kids are expected to do.  So in a way, the expectations of other people actually started within us.  If we were able to achieve great things then we are expected to do greater things.  Unfair?  Yeah, I believe it is.  For no matter how people become so independent and how strong willed they may seem, they still need somebody who will listen and feel for them.  And they do need to be appreciated from time to time no matter how normal or how easy they achieve things may seem.  As what wise people always say, appreciation goes a long way compared to tangible things like money.  I have met a couple of people who have been achievers when they were youngers and they do love being able to accomplish great achievements but lost the passion to excel because the people around them did not seem to see that they need to be appreciated on the things that they were able to achieve.  For other people it may seem absurd but you know sometime a little pat in the back really helps to keep the fire burning.

Alright, the first thing to do if you want to travel abroad is to get a passport.  Weng and I have planned to go to Bangkok however, since I don’t have a passport, I can’t go anywhere whenever I want to just yet.  So sad, but I am planning to get one.  It’s just that it will take a lot longer than the usual for I will need to get an approval from a government agency first for I have signed a contract for my scholarship that I will work in the Philippines for a certain number of years before I can go out of the county.  Oh well.  I guess that travel plan will have to be put aside for now.  Well, at least until I get my passport.

Cause of cerebral palsy

Posted by: michy   in Everything and Anything, General

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common brain disorder that I know of. Like most people, I have little understand of what cerebral palsy is. Reading about it, I guess that accounts to a lot of possible causes and different manifestations that one with little medical background like me could understand what it truly is and how it developed. Some people say it’s hereditary but according to some studies it’s not. Some say that it could be a result of medical malpractice for what the experts are saying that most people who has cerebral palsy is due to the death in very early pregnancy of an identical twin.* And some of the babies that develop CP during pregnancy are born prematurely and so some of their organs are not fully developed.* If some cases of cerebral palsy are truly the product of medical malpractice then parents of kids with cerebral palsy and they think that it is so, then I guess, these parents should consider talking to cerebral palsy lawyers for they are experts when it comes to the laws that protects the right of this patients and they also have resources that could truly identify if it was a natural occurrence or if it was caused by incompetence.

self realization

   Posted by: michy   in General

I have been thinking about a lot of things lately and I have realized, I have been letting a lot of people down recently including myself.  I have realized that:

1. I don’t believe in myself that I can become the person that I want to be.  Which is a major down fall according to John Maxwell for the success and failure of oneself begins on how one sees himself/herself.

2. That I have been thinking highly of myself that I don’t see the flaws that I have.  I always say to myself that they just envy me for what I have. This actually hinders my development.

3. I set a very high expectations for myself that when things doesn’t go as planned, my world go crashing down.

4. That I have been lazy and just riding the waves that I fail to meet my deadlines.  Which can also be a cause to the failure of the team that I am handling.

5.  That I have been taking my job for granted that I fail to meet the epxectations of my boss.

6.  That I have spent more than what I am earning.

7.  That at times, I can be so tackless that I say things (although they’re true) that hurt the feelings of other people.

These are just a few of the things that came to my attention.  Things that I needed to resolve as soon as possible so as it will not do more damage to my being.

Debts

   Posted by: michy   in General

Sometimes, we really can’t avoid having debts.  I have heard a lot of people having a lot of debts and are unable to pay them.  But I think everybody who borrows money have the intention of paying them it’s just that at times, the financial situation of a person can get so bad that they miss out on their due dates.  I have experienced it as well so I can understand how these people feel.  Like duh, even big companies have debts and there are times that they too have difficulties paying them.  But I guess the difference between a big company and an oridnary individual is a big company can afford to hire financial experts who can give them advises on how to work on their debt.  Like how helpful will a debt consolidation be to the company.  Which debt companies offer the best deals when it comes to interest and policies that will help the company become debt free.  So what is debt consolidation?  It is actually a loan that you make to payoff many others.  Most of the time, poeple who would go for this kind of loan look for companies which offers a lower interest rate.  Like let us say you have to payoff a credit card, which can have a high interest rate if you don’t pay it off, you can opt to go to a lending company like a bank to get this kind of loan.  However, most of consolidating companies will ask for a collateral so one has to be very careful when getting loans like these for if you’re not tendencies are you will end up losing whatever collateral you gave to the bank.  So, always ask for opinion and carefully weigh each option to avoid ending up in more debts instead of paying them off.

Sphagetti Factory

   Posted by: michy   in General

Is A resto that my brother and I wanted to go to for a while now.  For no matter how I deny it, I do love pasta.  So we tried their sphagetti with meatballs and their salami pizza which didn’t impress me that much.  The pizza was kinda ordinary.  The crust was ordinary, it’s consistentcy was not like the crust of PIzza Hut or Shakey’s and the top crust was separated by air holes from the base ( guess the baker did not pierce it with a fork before baking it) the toppings are like the toppings that you can find in ordinary places, in short it was like Yummy’s pizza nothing too special.  The difference though was the cheese and the sauce which kinda tasted like straight from the can (meaning, it tasted as though there were no other ingredients added to it when they prepared it).  The meatballs on the other hand was tough and dry which gives an impression that it was a day old but the sphagetti as a whole was good.  I like the sauce for it is different but I would suggest they tamper with it a bit and not to depend on the sauce that they purchased off the shelf.  It kinda reminded me of one of the episodes in Restaurant Make Over in the Asian Food Channel where one of the restaurants that they did a make over had their sphagetti and pizza suace straight from the bottle.  They just re-heated it and then put it on top of the sphagetti, added some cheese and meatballs and whala!  Their sphagetti and meat balls!  But I guess I was just expecting too much for when I read their menu, it talked about herbs and I was not able to sense them when I tried the dish.  Anyhow, if I’ll rate what we had I’d probably rate it as a 5 out of 10 mainly because of the strawberry shake with a bit of chocolate was good (two of my favorite things together, what more can I ask for) and of the price that was cheaper comparing it to other establishments but still expensive if you will consider the taste of the food and the friendly service that we experienced.

It’s Christmas!

   Posted by: michy   in General

I remember that tagline from an advert of Coke.  Yup, Christmas is fast approaching and I know a lot of people are thinking about what to get for who ever.  Personally, getting a gift for that one special person is kinda hard especially when you know that that person has almost everything and could afford almost everything.  And what makes it worse is finding the right gift for the right occasion, right?  And so when I was bloghopping and run into an article about gift baskets written by one of my fellow blogger it dawned on me that giving out a basket of goodies is indeed a great idea.  Because everybody loves food!  All you have to know is what that person loves to eat, buy them and put them together in a basket and viola!  And food is so versatile so you can give it out no matter what the occasion is.  Just make sure though that whatever you put in the basket does not spoil right away so that the person who receives it can enjoy it whenever he or she decides to eat it.
