One Busy Day…
May 28th, 2011 was one busy day for me. Edd of iLuvCebu woke me up at 10:30AM today (yes, I slept late for reasons that I am not aware of) to ask why am I not in the Cebu Blog Camp venue. I reminded him that I can’t go for I am not a volunteer and I did not register for the event (truth of the matter is, I didn’t really have a plan of going). And then Eds of SoloFlightEd came on the line and told me he’ll take care of it. And so, after 10 minutes of talking on the phone, off I went. I took a bath, got dressed and was on my way to Sacred Heart Center of Cebu. While on the jeep though, I contemplated if I really want to go and thought about changing routes and go to Ayala instead and wait until 2PM and leave for ABS-CBN in Mandaue City since I need to see the kids from Bantay Bata 163. But then curiosity got the best of me. I mean, what’s the worst thing that could happen, right? Anyway, if I don’t like it, I can always leave. So after 15 minutes, I was standing in front of the door of the St. Joseph Hall where the Cebu Blog camp was being held. I took a deep breath and opened the door. And there they were, bloggers from the different parts of the Philippines. Wow, the feeling was just like the first time that I actually met the cosplayers of Cebu. I was wondering, heck, why didn’t I ever join any of the Camps in the last 3 years? But, unlike the cosplaying event though, I saw a lot of familiar faces in the camp. Angeli Bas, who is always gracious when she sees me, greeted me with a hug. Edwin of Lakbay Diva who came in a few minutes before me was there. Ethy, Sinjin, Rabs, Doi and my other co-iLearners were there too. I also saw my long lost friend Xyza of XyzaSpeaks! Boy! Who would have thought that I will be seeing her there. So we chatted for a while and since I was late and needed to leave at 2pm, I was only able to hear the presentation of Estan Cabigas who talked about Travel Blogging. How I envy his stories. So why do I envy him? Well it’s because, I can never go and hunt with the local hunters or speak to the locals (I can’t even speak Cebuano without being laughed at by my Bisaya friends when I’ve been in Cebu for 5 years now for crying out loud!). Hays…
I reached ABS-CBN at 3PM and met the kids from Bantay Bata. This is in line with our project for the Social Welfare Club of my company. The meet up gave me a better understanding of what the foundation is about. After talking with the kids, Drake, who is a blogger and a fellow iLearner, and I decided to go back to the Blog Camp in the hope of hearing another speaker and some photo opps. When we arrived, we heard about Mozilla 4 (a browser that I never used after I left college) and it’s new features which made me consider using the browser once I install my Win 7 OS.
And to end the day, I had dinner with the Blogs4Review folks. But that will be a story for another day.
