Today, the Filipino nation bids farewell to Former President Cory Aquino who died last August 1, 2009. She may not be the greatest President that this nation had but I’d say that she is the most sincere that I have ever known. If you would measure the greatness of a president by numbers like GDPs she may fall short in that regard. However, if we would measure her in terms of influence, which most leaders believe is the true measure of leadership, people would agree when I say that she had exceeded all expectations. President Cory Aquino’s term has ended in 1992 but she never failed to come forward everytime that the nation needs someone to voice out their concerns especially when the democracy of the nation is threatened. Her sincerity made her closer to the Filipino people and made her one of the most influential personality in the country. The out pouring of the the Filipino people to accompany her to her resting place is a clear indication of how influential she is and how she is loved. Her departure brought tears and sadness to most Filipinos but I hope that along with that sadness, her departure would bring hope to us and continue to remember that change will always come from us. If we want something we should make the first step and continue to fight for what we believe in.
