Should I feel sorry for myself?

   Posted by: michy   in General

Is it just me or am I really losing one of my few good friends?  Did you ever feel like people are just being nice to you because they need something from you?  Or they’re just nice because you’re around or you’re with one of their friends?  Well, I did.  A lot of times.  So I really feel sad about losing someone who is nice to me not because he needs something from me.  I have a very few friends like that and most of them had left or drifted away.  And so I ask myself if I should feel sorry for myself?  Am I really doomed to live my lifetime without real friends?

Talking about sinks…

Granite Sink from Mr. Direct.

Granite Sink from Mr. Direct.

Personally, undermount kitchen sink, especially the one made of stainless steel is the best type of kitchen sink for busy kitchens like Hell’s Kitchen.  First, undermounted stainless steel sinks are easy to clean and are more convenient for the kitchen help since it is mounted under a counter.  Although, companies like Mr. Direct Incorporated have two types of undermount kitchen sink, the stainless ones and the ones made of granite, most people like myself, prefer stainless steel sinks for the convenience of cleaning but some people prefer granite sinks from Mr. Direct for they are 100% environmentally friendly materials and coated with bacteria killing silver ions.  They are also scratch resistant, stain proof and it produces lesser sound compared to stainless sinks when a kitchen help drops a spoon while washing kitchen utensils.

I am trying to help out a friend in fixing her pc.  I thought it was already fixed after I transferred the RAM card to another slot on her Toshiba Satellite 4320.  It worked but it didn’t last long.  Sheesh…  Now I have to research on how to get it working again.  I was just disappointed though cause it went back to it’s original state.  But anyhow, I am not giving up yet.  I haven’t really drilled down on the problem yet so I am pretty confident that I will be able to resolve it…  I just hope I will be able to do it soon.

Signs can be misleading

   Posted by: michy   in Rumblings

I’ve always said to myself to always look beyond the signs for they can be deceiving.  But sometimes I just don’t listen.  Now, I am here thinking if I have truly seen it or did I just interprete his actions the way that I wanted to but it wasn’t really what he meant.  It does hurt you see, but who am I to blame anyone?  I was the one who mislead myself.  It just sucks though that it will not turn out the way I hoped it would.  But life must go on.  And besides, there is a higher possibility that I can keep one of the most important things in this world.  I might be able to keep a friend.

It’s not a feasible thing to have.

   Posted by: michy   in General

I remember a sermon of one of the parish priests of the church that I go to every Sunday on the behavior of the new generation.  He said that the new generation loves to shut the world out of their lives.  One manifestation is their love of putting on their ear phones anywhere they go to listen to music on their iPods or any portable mp3s or playing video games.  Although this is not what the inventors of the products have in mind when they invented these gadgets, many youngsters use it for such purpose.  Do you ever notice how some youngsters pretend to be listening to their music in the car when they don’t want to talk to anyone or listen to their parents?  Curious about whether his conclusion is right or wrong, he asked a lot of teenagers why they love to always have an earphone stuck in their ears anywhere they go but one answer kinda stuck on me during that sermon. A youngster answered “it’s like having a soundtrack in your life Father.”  I was like what?!  Sheesh, it’s either this kid is into movies or he thinks his life is a movie.  Well, in a way life is like a movie but I hope this kid will not live in denial.  And besides doesn’t he realize how expensive it is to use a song in a movie?  Music companies charge broadcasting companies everytime they play a song.  This is why, some productions would rather create their own music to use in their projects.  Some would use products like Reason drum kits to create royalty free music for their productions.  However, music can never really be royalty free.  Truth is royalty free music was created just to make licensing music easier, cheaper and more convenient.  Having a background music in our daily lives is never feasible.

Day Three

Posted by: michy   in What Goes On At Work

It’s day three for my training and I am already awake 5 hours before the schedule.  Sheesh.  I hope I will last until 7 PM tonight.  And I hope I won’t be late like yesterday.  Hehehe… I didn’t really expect that I will be late yesterday.  Funny, because of all the days that I lost track of time, I also miscalculated the traffic.  Damn.  Anyhow, past is past and what’s done is done.   I will just try not to be late today since this is the last day of training.  I really enjoy trainings like this one where you get to meet people from other programs.  Because it’s like you finally get to see the face and meet the person behind the name of a person that you have heard of like a hundred of times.  That’s how it feels like.  In our company there are a lot of programs or should we say departments but you seldom get an interaction with them.  So getting an opportunity to do so is really something.  Too bad though for this is the last day of our training but nevertheless, it was quite a learning experience.

Wooden Furnishings

   Posted by: michy   in General

stereo-cabinetMay Mother Earth forgive me but I really am a fan of wooden furnishings.  For me they are warmer than steel furnishings.  See this is the reason why I love coffee shops like Starbucks and Bo’s.   We’ll yeah their products are good but what I like about staying in those shops is the ambience of their stores.  It’s cozy and relaxing to the eye.  Just like this stereo cabinet.  It’s made of wood and I would love to have one for myself.  But I will might have the paint redone.  For I prefer varnish on wooden furnishings over paint.

Day Two has Ended

Posted by: michy   in What Goes On At Work

Yesterday was day two for TLDP2 and I was late.  Sheesh.  I didn’t do it in purpose but I lost track of time.  And the most embarrassing part is, they actually waited for me to start.  Imagine that.   Tsk, tsk, tsk.   But the day ended well.  We all learned a lot and after over a year, I finally got an email from my MDP wavemates.  Jai, the most friendly of them all, sent out an invitation for a get together.  Papang replied and so did Junyx.  I replied as well asking those who are in Cebu to get together and have dinner since it has been a year since we’ve graduated from MDP and since Junyx is here so I think now is the best time to celebrate.  I will have to check my email later to see if the other agree to my proposal for Junyx will be heading back to Manila soon.

Mesothelioma

   Posted by: michy   in General

Remember I talked about this disease a couple of months back?  For those who was not able to read the article, mesothelioma is a kind of cancer that can be caused by a significant level of exposure to asbestos.  This is according to the studies on groups of workers with cummulative exposure ranging from 5 to 1,200 fiber-year/ml which can be a result from a 40 years occupational exposure to air concentrations of 0.125 to 30 fiber/ml.  However, I was a bit puzzled about this for from what I remember, most developed countries have stopped using asbestos in constructions way back in the 90’s I think, because of the studies on Mesothelioma.  But it turned out, asbestos is not only used on buildings.  Because of its good heat and electric insulation quality it is used on a lot of other products that we use everyday.  From brake pads and clutches to boilers and furnaces.  So people who works as automechanics, broiler makers, merchant marines, carpenters, painters etc. has a high risk of getting an exposure to the said mineral.  Sheesh, no wonder there are still around 3000 new cases of Mesothelioma in the US and majority of them are men.
