We went to a Gawad Kalinga site earlier after my shift to help build houses for the less fortunate and we get to do construction work.  The one in-charge asked us to help make septic tanks for the families who will live there by digging into the ground.  Since my friend and I decided to help out by carrying the soil to the dumping site.  While we were carrying those sacks of soil I realized, we should appreciate what we have.  Construction work is truly a hard labor.  By God, even just digging through the soil can be physically draining.  My friend and I really ended up by saying, how can they last this job?  (They would be those who do contruction work.)  They would wake up early in the morning and work until late afternoon and sometimes the pay does not even reach the minimum pay rate.  Well my job can be emotionally draining especially when am dealing with a stressful customer but hey comparing the two, I’ll choose my job anytime.  Doing this activity has drained me physically and I guess will give me a lot of body pain in the coming days, but it was worth it.  It made me realize realize to love and appreciate what I have.  I may not be as lucky as everyone else but I am still blessed.  I am blessed with a wonderful family, a lot of great friends and a wonderful job.
