Work in Vegas

Posted by: michy   in Dreams and Musings

They describe the kitchen in hotels Las Vegas as one of the busiest kitchen in the world. With the number of people checking in and out of the hotels and casinos, I’d definitely agree to what they say. This could probably be the reason why, a lot of chefs want to go and work there. For this will be a good training ground for aspiring chefs. This will not just test your cooking skills but how you will behave under pressure creating and serving meals after meals while maintaining the quality and taste each serving. But personally, I don’t like to work there as a chef for it’s like a factory. Just dishing out meals after meals. I love cooking so much that I tend to spend a lot of time on observing how the ingredients changes its forms and smell the aroma as the it mixes together.

I told you it ain’t easy

I went out with a bunch of colleagues last night to give in to their request.  If you can remember, my boss’ agenda for me is to find me a boyfriend. Unfortunately, their plan failed for I was meet any guy at all tonight. Hehehe… But too bad, I guess my boss was kinda disappointed.  Any how, we went to party in a club to party but it was kinda boring so we went out to eat instead. I wonder where all the cute guys go.  They planned to go to the casino but too bad, we had to end the night early. I got home at 2:30 am. Which is very early if you consider the work hours that we are used to. Anyway, so here I am making this article and later on, I’ll go ahead and watch The Strangers. I just don’t know how the movie will end but anyhow, I won’t have any expectations. I’ll just play the movie and watch it and probably talk about it in the near future.  But now that am home, it made me think.  Maybe I should have gone back to the office with Ed and work as well.  Or stayed in Starbucks on the ground floor.  But then I will be alone there.  For Ed was already sleepy, he might decide to sleep in the louge instead.  If that happens I will have to wait until morning for it won’t be safe to go home by myself. :(  Anyway, to sum things up, we went out and have a little fun, got home safe and am still single.  Hehehe…

P.S.

Now am thankful that we decided to go home for it rained.  And thank God that it rained for our electric fans are broken and it’s really warm in my room.

The Others

Posted by: michy   in Dreams and Musings

Today, is Saturday and it is the birthday of my younger sister but unfortunately she’s not here in Cebu so no there won’t be any party today.  And since it’s my restday, I went ahead and had a movie marathon.  One of the movies I watched was The Others of Nicole Kidman.  It’s a horror flick and it kinda depicts what most people believe about ghosts.  They said that the spirit of the dead do live among us.  That it is a parallel universe.  We have the living on one side and the dead on the other.  Which could be the reason why some people do not believe in ghosts.  For if it is a parallel universe then it will not cross into one another thus they will not see one another. But why is it that some people say they see ghosts?  An abnormality perhaps?  Some scientists believe that we are made of energy and energy could be unstable sometimes and reflux occurs.  If that is so then there will be some instances that the two universe would cross one another and I guess those whose energy had crossed with the energy on the other side is the one who can see what’s on the other side.  But did it occur to you that what we consider as ghosts may actually be the ones who are the original entities of this world and we are the ghosts?  For they said the reason why there are ghosts, it is because the dead could not accept the fact that they are dead.  Hmmm…

You know when people says the word pumpkin, the first thing that comes into mind is Halloween.  And the first thing that you will remember are the lanterns that are used to decorate the yards or most American homes.  However, pumpkins are not just for lanterns.  I heard that some Japanese folks eat them raw because of its sweet taste.  But in North America, pumpkins are made into pies.  A pumpkin pie is a sweet dessert like most pies, but is usually made in the fall and early winter.  North Americans would usually prepare it on Thanksgiving, Christmas and of course during the Halloween.  This dessert is so loved and is a seasonal treat (meaning it’s made during special occasions), a lot of companies came up with products that has similar flavor.  And since this pie is usually served after the Thanksgiving dinner, a lot of memories are made while enjoying it with the rest of the family which could also be the reason why there were songs written that mentions it and a lot of people love it so much.

Here is a sample of a Classic Pumpkin Pie recipe:**

Yield

12 servings (serving size: 1 wedge and about 1 tablespoon topping)

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 3/4  cup  packed brown sugar
  • 1 3/4  teaspoons  pumpkin pie spice

  • 2  large egg whites
  • 1  large egg

  • Crust:
  • 1/2  (15-ounce) package refrigerated pie dough (such as Pillsbury)
  • Cooking spray
  • Topping:
  • 1/4  cup  whipping cream
  • 1  tablespoon  amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
  • 2  teaspoons  powdered sugar

Preparation

Position oven rack to lowest position.

Preheat oven to 425°.

To prepare filling, combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Add pumpkin, and stir with a whisk until smooth.

To prepare crust, roll dough into an 11-inch circle; fit into a 9-inch pie plate coated with cooking spray. Fold edges under and flute.

Pour pumpkin mixture into the crust. Place pie plate on a baking sheet. Place baking sheet on lowest oven rack. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350° (do not remove pie from oven); bake an additional 50 minutes or until almost set. Cool completely on wire rack.

To prepare topping, beat cream with a mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form. Add the amaretto and powdered sugar, and beat until blended. Serve with pie.

Torpe Song No. 5 by MYMP

   Posted by: michy   in General

As I promised to Wena, this song goes out to that guy who is such a chicken that he can’t seem to say what he wants to say. I mean it’s kinda obvious that he likes her but just don’t have the courage to tell her… However, you will have to forgive me for I can’t find a better video for this song and it’s in Filipino. Anyhow, this song was written to encourage those guys who can’t seem to summon up their courage to tell a girl that they like her. To my fellow Pinoys, I know you’ll be able to understand and relate to this song so enjoy!

week in review

   Posted by: michy   in Rumblings

hmmm… Let’s see…

We’ve just ended the month of September, meaning our stats for September is officially closed. And unfortunately, my team was not able to meet the CSat target for the month. Hay, I guess the blanket and the Stanley Vacuum bottle was the surprise that my stars have in store for me this month :( . New survey for the month of October came in and it’s a bottom box (what a great way to start the fiscal month). I received my pay but it was a thousand pesos short (which made my financial situation even worse), I don’t know why. I still need to verify it with our HR. I went to see a dentist who asked me to pay him 800 pesos to clean my teeth since it will not be covered by my insurance (like hell it’s not). Had an argument with a peer over an agent (sheesh, as if the tension isn’t enough to strengthen the walls between us). I was not able to do much the past two days in the office (great just great!). And because of my CSat results am getting a new task (like my load isn’t enough yet. Not that am complaining though, I guess it’s time that I do something about it). I did not get any tasks for this week (hay…). And to top it all, I have a huge pimple near my left eye brow. I have never had a pimple as huge as this one and it was really uncomfortable. Imagine, I think I can see it myself even if am not in front of the mirror. And as if that was not bad enough, some of my peers were teasing me about it and I felt like everyone was staring at it while I was talking to them. Sheesh! What a way to start the month and end the first week of October. Good thing I have something to look forward to at the end of the month. :)

All I want is a little freedom…

   Posted by: michy   in Rumblings

Hay… In the past couple of years I have noticed that I’m always short of cash from August to November. No matter how I try to save up in the earlier months, I always end up short when these months arrive. Huhuhu… I am really worried for I can’t figure out how I can resolve this issue. My pay is already higher than my pay in the previous years but still that did not resolve the problem. I checked on my expenses, and it’s the same. I even stopped riding the taxi to work so that I can save money. I even cut dosn my expenses on food which means I don’t eat out anymore and I avoid going to the supermarket (which is the most difficult thing that I had to do, for that means I can no longer cook what I want) as much as I can. I have a sideline (although it’s not rolling out that much cash yet) to add up to my pay. And still, I am short of cash. Does this mean I’m not managing my cash well? The only reason why I want to earn more it’s for me to have a little financial freedom. You know, have enough money for food, shelter and a little money for a new pair of shoes every now and then and still have money in the bank. $%^%&^&
