Why do I want to keep my job?

   Posted by: michy   in General

I want to keep my job for many reasons.  Reasons like earning money to sustain my needs.  And with all that’s going on right now, I can barely make it through the month.  So, does this connote?  This means that I won’t be able to reach my goal of becoming a nouveau riche for what I have now is, well, let’s just say just about enough to get me through my daily needs.  For a person to be considered as nouveau riche, one has to acquire a considerable wealth during his or her generation.  A nouveau riche is someone who is from a lower socioeconomic rank like me and was able to obtain wealth that will enable him or her to afford certain luxuries that are unobtainable before (not me for I still can’t afford any luxuries ;) ).  This means, those people who are born rich even if they were able to make their own wealth like my crush will not be considered as such.  So here’s the plan, I’ll continue doing my job and then start a business of my own.  Which is a bit of a challenge though for I am having some difficulties in getting a capital.  Plan B: Get another job so that I can save money (which will be very difficult for I have a 9 hour job) or I can go back to school and get a higher education, then apply for a higher position to get a higher pay.  Hmmm… so what do you think?  Am I good or am I good? hahaha…

getting ready to be grilled

   Posted by: michy   in General

As you may have noticed, I have a very minimal activity for a while now.  The reason, I am preparing my report for our skip level meeting this weekend.  Sheesh, as if the pressure of meeting the targets is not enough!  Anyway, I need to get things rolling and be prepared for the grilling that I may get from the higher management.  I never imagined that it will be very difficult to get my presentation done. Well, just keep your fingers crossed and do pray for me that I will still get to keep to get my job after my presentation.  And that I may convince my masters that I am qualified for the job.

The evolution of home entertainment…

   Posted by: michy   in General

They say change is inevitable.  Something that I agree with for no matter how we try to keep things as it is, the time will come and things will eventually change.  I really can’t point out where the drive to develop something into a more complicated and more advanced technology came from.  Is it with the constant need of developing things?  Our desire of making things more convenient? Or are we just not contented in what we have?  Not that I am complaining though for I truly like what we have right now.  It just that before, home entertainment amounts to a television set and a radio.  Then the radio became a karoake and the television set was paired with a beta max.  And now it became a HDTV and a component and computers too.  Even the cables used to connect these units have evolved from a simple connector into a coaxial cable into High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable.  And due to a lot of units that we put together to have a sophisticated home entertainment package, consumers should be thankful to electronic companies who manufacture wall plates like a HDMI wall plate.  It’s because of this wall plates, that we are able to bring a little order in the chaos brought about by the number and the different kinds of wires that we use to connect these things together.

what a day!

Posted by: michy   in Everything and Anything, Rumblings

October 15 is the birthday of my brother and what a day indeed. We went out to eat lunch at the Manila foodshoppe in Cebu. We had the sweet and sour pork, satimi and shaghai rice. I suggested that we have lunch there instead for a lot of people said that the food is good. However, I was not really happy about their Satimi. The noodles leaves a certain aroma and it was kinda bland. The sweet andsour pork as kinda okay and the shanghai rice was okay too but the used new cooked rice so it was kinda wet. I was impressed by their green mango shake though. It was one of the best I had so far. After eating, my bro and I was about to go home when a shirt on the display window caught out attention. So off we went on our hour shopping spree.

Then later in the afternoon, I went to meet Wena in Ayala for she wanted to meet the tech there for some issues with the OS and she wants it reformatted. Unfortunately, we were not able to see him for we were in a hurry to meet some of our friends from work at Starbucks so that we can go out for dinner. They said Nikko came home from Japan and wants to go out for dinner. I didn’t recognize him at first for he lost a lot of weight. He said that it was because of the extra hours that he put into his job. He said that he is taking the advantage of working there so that he can save money for his future. When everybody arrived we went to The Walk and ate at Joe’s Grill. I ordered the grilled bangus with red egg and I was kinda disappointed with it for the egg was too salty. When it touches your tongue, the salt kinda stings your tongue. I believe the saltiness of that thing if you will take it everyday may destroy your taste bud. Whoah… It seems I have been having some really bad decisions don’t ya think? After dinner, we went back to Starbucks, where we and Weng stayed from 9PM to 2 AM. I had a venti of their green tea frap which so far was the best choice I made today. I got home at around 2:30 AM but didn’t go to sleep yet. I spent an hour hopping around the web and wrote this article.

It’s 4:14 now and since my tasks for the day is done, it is now time for me to get some goodnight sleep. Ta-ta!

Just like any girl…

   Posted by: michy   in General

As a proof to my kikay-ness, aside from not being able to say no to an interesting cookbook, I have a hard time saying no to shoes like this pair of Dansko clog sandals. Something that my eldest brother can never understand. I remember him going with me, my aunt and my dad shopping at SM North Edsa and my aunt wanted to buy me 2 pairs of shoes so we went around looking for a great pair (which cost us the whole afternoon). I think he was a bit pissed off that day that until now when we look back to that day he would always ask how many pair of shoes does a girl need? Well, he should ask that question to Madam Imelda Marcos who has hundreds of shoes. You know men can never understand it but we women, we always want to look fab and be ready when the need arises. I mean, who would want to wear a pair of rubber slippers when you are wearing a beautiful Versace gown or a pair of sneakers to a very corporate looking Armani suit paired with a skirt? Well, some dare devil trendsetter would but not me.  I would think it an insult to the designers if you steal the lime light away from their creations by doing a crazy stunt like wearing an unappropriate pair of footwear.  Wouldn’t you agree my fellow fashionistas?

Who is Bobby part II

   Posted by: michy   in General

It seems that I have made quite a confusion on my sexuality when I wrote about Bobby. Just to put an end to the confusion and to make the records straight, I am a GIRL. Okay. No doubt about it. And I like men (a lot) it’s them who doesn’t like me. But nevertheless, am still a girl who is into men. What I mean about wanting to be like Bobby is being able to do what I wanted to do. Which is to cook and put up my own business and be able to quit the job that I have now. However, due to practical reasons, quitting the job that I have now is really not a good option for me. There. If I’m going to put something out of my closet, it will be about that. Not about my sexuality. For it’s already out.  It’s just that I am not as kikay as a cheerleader or any average girl you know.  i guess that’s the reason why a lot of people question it.  But hey, who would know better?  I guess that’s what you get when you stay single for too long.  It’s just like straight men accused of being gays when they remain single until they are 40 year old.  Hehehe…

In trying times…

Posted by: michy   in Everything and Anything, General

We all know about the economic situation in the US. And from what I hear the most affected by the issue is the real estate industry. Am not really sure how this affected the buying power of the consumers and how it influenced the decision to buy real estate properties of the consumers though. But if the economic situation in the US is really bad and the real estate industry is truly affected then the American people will really think twice before buying houses. Although homeowners can hold on to their properties and wait for the value of their properties to go up, some might be in dire need to sell for some financial difficulties like the senior citizens. And since most senior citizens are already under pension and are too old to qualify for a loan, reverse mortgage or lifetime mortgage may actually be an answer to their difficulties. However, reverse mortgages are not for everyone. This loan is only available to homeowners who are 62 year old and older. But, those who are interested in getting this type of loan must seek a third party financial counseling approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Developent (HUD) and set an appointment with the institution where they are planning to get their loan to get more reverse mortgage information. This way interested parties will know what are the effects on having this loan on their social security and medicare benefits, what taxes that may apply and etc.

I have finally seen the 2004 version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera which was played by Gerard Butler (King Leonidas of 300).  Altough I appreciate plays, I am a bit choosy when it comes to watching musicals.  Espeially when they are made into movies.  But I would highly recommend that you watch this movie for Joel Schumacher, the director of the film, Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson, Gerard’s co-stars were able to appropriately deliver the emotions that the writer wanted his audience to feel.  The muscial scores were great although I believe they made certain changes on the music to make it sound a bit modern (you will have to correct me if I’m wrong for I was young when the 1980’s version came out), the voice of the singers were great (especially the one who sung Christine’s songs, it was so angelic).  After watching the movie, I have realized that The Phantom of the Opera is the most romantic movie/musical that I have ever seen.  Why, it’s even better than Casa Blanca (no offense meant)!  So to the actors, director, musical director and producer of the movie and to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber…  Bravo! (as what they would say in the theaters) Speaking of which, I wonder if I get to watch the stage play version of this movie.

Is it for fun or for something else?

   Posted by: michy   in General

I really can’t understand movies where the characters will go to the school of their enemies just to steal a football trophy.  I mean there are a lot of football trophies in the world and there are a lot of leagues to join in where you can win trophies so why steal something that isn’t yours?  I though trophies are symbol of glory so why would anyone go out and still something that you haven’t earned? I just hope this does not happen in real life.  But I kinda admit, in the movies it was fun  but in real life.  Nah-ah.  I mean it’s bad enough that you took something that’s not yours like trophies and claim it to be yours is something else.  Don’t you think?n your own school hall, that’s something else don’t you think?

Who is Bobby?

   Posted by: michy   in General

Well, Bobby is a service master in the company that I work for. I usually see him when I go around and I must say I don’t usually say hi to him like most people in the company. But after I saw him dance the hula in a grass skirt and the “flamingo” I admired him. You know the Philippines is very conservative when it comes to homosexuality. If his relatives saw him dance the hula in a grass skirt, a head dress with his face made up, he could have been disowned by them. But my admiration for him was not because he came out of the closet but it’s because he was able to do what he always wanted to do without any hesitations. When he danced in front of everybody including the site director, he did not just showed us what he wanted to do but he did it in a way to tell whoever is watching that he it was he LOVED to do. Hay, when will I get to really show who I am and not worry about people not liking who I am.
